What does it mean to be an artist? You know I never asked myself that before. Inside I always knew that I was. But was I really. Well frankly I think there are two types of artists and there are two types of art that is worth being called art, and the rest is frankly hallucinations with finger paint.
The first type of artist is one who is inspired by dreams, or visions. Be they something that comes from nature, people around him, or otherwise he or she makes them beautiful. Now what is beautiful you might ask? Hard to say, in fact maybe we should call them beautiful (the painting/ or the art that is). We should call them novel. These types of artists make originals.
The second type of artist is methodical, analytically, he plans, or he iterates painstakingly and often times with the goal of delivering a message. I am this time of artist. I have the ability to creatively put together pieces and create not only something of originality but also necessity.
Art has become quite technical today. Webdesign has become standardized and experimentation is rare. Inspiration is rarely seeked, and it's all about the client and the dollar symbol. After all that is why I'm not an artist.
